Mild plasma paves the way for an era
of adhesive-free direct bonding

▶Plasma irradiation generates high-density functional
groups,enabling direct bonding without adhesives.
Because no adhesives are used, bulk properties are
100% maintained.

▶The resin surface can be freely modified to be either
hydrophilic or water-repellent, and processing can be
performed under optimal conditions.

Mild Plasma Features

Unique plasma irradiation effect using a unique power supply and electrodes

High density functional group generation on the surface
The strong reactivity between active groups even at low temperatures and pressures promotes chemical bonding reactions, achieving direct bonding.
Prevents degradation of functional groups by generating a cross-linked layer with a special structure
The irradiation effect doesn’t change over time. Ex: The treatment effect of PET film treated 12 years ago is still maintained.
Plasma energy is mild, causing little surface etching
It is possible to control the modification of the extreme surface at the nano level, and does not cause physical damage to the material.
No restrictions on the types of gas that can be used
N2,O2,Ar,H2,CO2 and many other gases (either alone or in combination) can be used, and the amount of gas used is extremely small.

Example of adhesive-free direct bonding

Controlling the density of hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups

This surface treatment, which does not change over time,
is applied in a variety of fields.

Strengthening carbon fiber composites

Improving adhesion of CFRTP

Contact angle of carbon fiber cloth
Improved hydrophilicity through plasma irradiation
By irradiating carbon fiber cloth with plasma we can improve the impregnation with resin and improve the bonding with resin by adding functional groups, thereby increasing the strength of the composite.

※ In-house three-point bending test results for a laminate of PA6 + plasma-irradiated carbon fiber cloth show an improvement in strength from 700 MPa to 830 MPa(currently underway).

Plasma irradiation effects in the bio field

Improved wettability of petri dishes

It is possible to control the wettability (contact angle) to be optimal for cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation .

PLACL sheet processing

Plasma exposure improves cell proliferation.

Minimally invasive cell culture

Plasma-treated PET is modified with a temperature-responsive polymer, and cells grown on it are gently detached and collected by applying a temperature stimulus.

Other Plasma Applications

■ Improved wettability of chemicals on fluororesin surfaces
■ Reduced powder floc formation, improving dispersion in liquids

Plasma irradiation device

Winding-type plasma irradiation device
(mass production machine)

■ This machine can process roll-to-roll rolls up to 500mm wide.
■ We also accept contract processing of rolls less than 500mm wide.
■ We are currently considering contract processing of rolls up to 1000mm wide.

The standard type device can accommodate widths up to 1000mm (please contact us for other widths).

Bell jar type vacuum plasma irradiation device
(testing machine)

■ Plasma irradiation is possible quickly even for small samples.
■ The transparent glass chamber allows you to observe even the smallest internal changes during plasma processing.
■ You can find the optimal plasma irradiation conditions and build your own unique know-how.
■ We also accept contract processing. We will propose the optimal plasma irradiation conditions for your purpose for a variety of conditions.
